The name of the dialogue platform is an expression of how similar the semitic cultures of Judaism and Islam are. "Schalom Aleikum" is a combination of the Jewish greeting "Schalom" and the Muslim equivalent "Salam Aleikum“. Its aim is to reduce anti-semitism and prejudice and to promote common ground and respect.
